Week 7 Wow, it is week 7 already! Once again we are so proud of all the children and how they have adapted to level 2.  They have all been amazing at getting themselves into class and getting their jobs done before settling down for a great day of learning.  This is something you should all be proud of.  Just to remind you all what level 2 looks like at school Parents must sign in at the gate using the Covid Tracer app if you are coming into school. All children must be at school by 8:45 and picked up by 2:45. Parents are not allowed into the classrooms.  If you wish to speak with your child's teacher please send them an email to arrange a time. The teachers are cleaning surfaces throughout the day. All children and teachers are handwashing regularly as well as using hand sanitizer. It is expected all children will be at school unless they are unwell. Please remember if you need to speak to the teacher please email to set up a time, the best time for teachers to meet parents is a

A very special 'Jesus' lunch - Our very own "Last Supper"

Today in Kakano we all experienced the type of food Jesus and his people would have eaten and wore the clothes Jesus would have worn. There was a hum of excitement as the students saw the big banquet style tables set up with grazing foods, exactly like Jesus would have eaten many years before us.   We discussed the types of food we have today and how Jesus would not have had a lot of the food types we have in our modern world. The students all tried grapes, grape juice, olives, raisins, figs, bread, eggs, honey, and fish, just like was available in Palestine back in Jesus's day.  It was very special and we all enjoyed partaking. The dressing up was exciting too and we giggled as we saw each other in a style of clothing so different from what we are used to! I am once again proud of Kakano 8 for experiencing this special Jesus lunch day!

Week 6 Term Three 2020

Week 6 Welcome to week 6!!  I am so proud of the new Kakano 8 children. They helped welcome our new three school visitors on Friday and we look forward to seeing Chloe, Liam and Jack back again next Friday for their next school visit. They have settled in so well and learning their routines and jobs to do at school. A reminder that we are still in Alert Level 2 until further notice after tomorrow’s announcements. In week 5’s blog post are the reminders for what Level 2 looks like at our school. Thank you to all of the families who regularly read the blog posts for the week and who have returned the home school learning packs. Teachers put out the weekly notices to make sure you, at home, are aware of all that is going on in Kakano for the week. The blog posts are completed by teachers each Sunday afternoon, so that you as parents can get into the habit of checking it on Sunday evening before school starts back each Monday. Tomorrow our pantry will be out at the church car park again. T

Our first week at school!

Kiaora Whanau, Wow-what a busy four days we have had in Kakano 8! The children are settling in great, making new special friends, and learning to manage themselves at our school. I know they are feeling tired because I am too! They are all doing so well and I am super proud of their efforts this week! Thank you for following our Level 2 protocols at school.  A few reminders: Homework bookbags go home with the expectation that children can attempt to do 'homework' each night. Understandably this doesn't always happen every night, so remember not to push your child if they are not in the mood, however, encourage them to get into good habits.  Students will get two books a week to bring home. One on a Monday and one on a Wednesday. These are books students have looked at in class with me in small groups. At this stage, we are just getting the children to look at the pictures and listen to the words and learning that we read from left to right on a page.  Library book bags als
