Friday sports morning!

 If it is fine tomorrow morning we will be having a mini sports morning for our KAKANO children to get them used to athletic type activities. If you want you can send some pe uniform or shorts and tshirt along so that the girls don’t have to wear their dresses. Thanks 

WEEK 3 Term 4

  WEEK 3 TERM 4 2020. Tokelau Language Week Te vaiaho o te gagana Tokelau Mālo ni, This week is Tokelau Language week. We hope all the Kakano children and families enjoyed the long weekend and beautiful weather at times! Wow week 3 already!  On Friday our Young Vinnies had a Loud Shirt Day supporting the Hearing Association. We managed to raise $200 so thank you for your support for this.  We welcomed Irwin and his whanau to Kakano 8 last week.   Our Rosary continues this week with Kakano leading us in prayer. Kakano 8 are swimming again this week so please remember togs and towels.  PLEASE NOTE: we will definitely swim on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday during our swimming weeks. Tuesdays we have dance practice and Fridays Assembly so will only swim if time allows. Thanks. Library visits continue this week so please ensure your children bring their books back in time for their visits.  Kakano 8 Library day is THURSDAY so it is a good habit to get books back on Wednesdays or Thursday

Week 2 Term Four - Kakano 8

Week 2 Kiaora Whanau, Everyone had a great week last week and settled back into school routines well.   We also welcomed 4 new children to Kakano 8 - Liam, Jack, Millar and Chloe.   Thank you for having the children in their summer uniforms, please remember that the school polar fleece is an extra layer on cold days and they are not allowed to wear this in the classroom, hall or church, they can wear their knitted jersey though. NO HAT NO PLAY In terms 4 and 1 it is compulsory for the children to wear the blue school bucket hat in the playground.  From this week the children will be using the no hat, no play rule, the children without a school hat will have to sit in the shade outside the classroom during playtimes.  Hats can be purchased through the school app, website or from the uniform shop. Kakano 8 Update

 Kiaora Whanau (Family) This week we have been practicing how to introduce ourselves in Te Reo Maori. We have learned the following: Ko ___________(Mrs Trask) Toku Ingoa (My name is Mrs Trask) Ko __________ toku mama (My mums name is__________) Ko ___________ toku papa (My dads name is ___________) Ko ___________ te maunga (My mountain is Rangitoto) Mrs Trask is from Auckland.  Please ask your children to see if they can remember how to do it themselves. They will / may have a different mountain than mine, depending on where they are born / whakapapa (relate) back to.  CONGRATULATIONS to Arya in our class and her parents, who have welcomed a brand new baby sister born last week.  BOOK BAGS: Our book bags go home every day and need to come to school each day.  During term time, Mrs Trask tries her best to check reading homework EVERY day from the night before. Kakano 8 - Week 1 Term Four

Welcome back to Term 4!! I have had a lovely break spending time with my boys, catching up with my brother home from Brazil, visiting my friends new babies and going to the beach. What have you got up to in your holiday Kakano 8 kids? A huge welcome to our new students in Kakano 8 - Chloe, Liam, Millar, Irwin, Jack and Roman joining us either this week or in a few weeks time. We look forward to making them feel a special part of our Kakano 8 classroom. Our chicks Kowhai and Tahi will also be returning to school bigger than ever and we have a fresh batch of chicken eggs in the incubator! Let's hope we get more chicks in a few weeks time! We hope you have all enjoyed the time off school and the children have rested well looking forward to getting back to their classmates and school routine!
